Cross-party MPs visit Acorn at St Fergus Gas Terminal
The Scottish Affairs Committee, a cross-party group of MPs focused on policies and legislation that impacts Scotland, recently visited North Sea Midstream Partners’ St Fergus Gas Terminal to learn more about the site, Acorn and the Scottish Cluster.
The Committee learned about operations at the terminal which ensure safe and secure energy supplies to the UK, and its future as part of Acorn and the Scottish Cluster.
Acorn aims to provide a CO₂ transport and permanent storage solution for a diverse range of industrial CO₂ capture projects across Scotland and beyond, enabling the safe transport of CO₂ to the North-east where it can be safely and permanently stored under the North Sea.
Nic Braley, General Manager of Acorn, said:
“We were delighted to welcome the Scottish Affairs Committee to St Fergus, alongside our partners and gas terminal operator, North Sea Midstream Partners.
“The North-east of Scotland has the skills and supply chain to continue to play an important role in an integrated energy system of the future.
“By showcasing existing energy infrastructure which can be readily repurposed to decarbonise Scotland, we hope to demonstrate the potential for the Scottish Cluster, with Acorn at its core, to support ambitions for clean energy, green prosperity and value for money.”
