Journey to the centre of Acorn
People from across the north-east of Scotland joined our specialist geoscientists – the “Rock Doctors” – and engineers on a trip through 145 million years of geological time, to discover how Acorn CCS can make a significant contribution to decarbonisation.
Navigating around a 2.5km route through Aden Country Park (the equivalent distance to the depth at which Acorn will store CO2) participants completed activities, learned fascinating facts and looked at genuine rock and fossil samples from the depths of the earth.
They explored the incredible geology that makes the north east of Scotland, in particular rock formations deep below the North Sea bed, such a valuable site for developing carbon capture and storage (CCS).
The journey was part of the annual Wild About Aden event, with representatives from Acorn CCS supported by the Buchan Development Partnership.
